I've been searching the Internet high and low (so far unsuccessfully) to locate a schematic diagram for the Roland Cube-20X. There's an apparent link to the PDF diagram I'm looking for in one of the forum post here , but clicking the attachment link in the post just displays a blank white page.

I've found links to Cube-20 schematics, but on trying to actually trace circuits, it's quite apparent that the Cube-20 and the Cube-20X are significantly different. Even the component IDs are all different. Does anyone have a link to the schematic diagram or Service Manual for a Roland Cube-20 X amplifier? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

For practice use and for the features, this is a good little amp. Overall I'm pretty happy with it and it is serving me well in this capacity. However, there are a few issues that you should know about. First, the clean channel is crap. That is, the amp sounds way too midrangey, even with the tone controls at max or min, you still can't get a clean responsive sound out of it.

It does have the COSM Acoustic setting on the other channel, though, which I found was a reasonable approximation of what my dual humbucker actually sounds like in clean mode on most other amps. Related is perhaps the fact that the amp just has no sustain. I'm not talking about gain and compressors here. And there's plenty of volume. I'm talking about how my guitar sounds when I hold a note. The guitar stills rings out the note, but the amp drops out long before my note is over. If I had to guess, it's like someone was muffling the speaker after a short time holding a chord or note - it just doesn't ring true.

First, the housing and construction are very solid with corner guards and sturdy knobs.

Second, the sound quality for a unit of this size and price is very good. The clean channel is not outstanding, but is what one would expect from a modestly priced amp. Specifically, the distortion, metal, and metal stack. These three presets offer beautiful crunch, gain, and sustain for challenging rhythm and lead guitar work. With a touch of echo added, the sound of these three presets alone is well worth the price of the amp. If you like 80's heavy metal, then you will love the sound of 'metal stack' - truly awesome. The headphone jack, when used, mutes the 8' speaker and allows for a super sonic experience when rocking through the headphones.The effects are average, but sound decent.

There are practically no parameter adjustments for any of the effects (but this is OK given the low price of the amp). I found the chorus and delay to sound quite nice. The flanger and reverb did not suit my taste.

The amp has a built-in tuner which works perfectly. Overall, the Roland Cube 20x is a superb value. You get a very clean, attractive, and well-built amp that sounds good for all presets, and incredible for the harder rock tones. If you play metal or grunge, I'm sure this little amp is great for practice, but if you primarily play a single coil Strat like I do, this little baby falls short. As another reviewer pointed out, the clean settings leave much to be desired. I put Custom Shop '69s in my American Standard, and this amp doesn't even come close to doing them justice. There's barely any sustain and it just sounds kind of lame. Very little depth or brightness.

Comments about Roland Cube 20X Guitar Combo Amplifier: I have had this amp for about a month and it Rocks! Much louder than my old one and much better tone.

The two channel system works very well, and I really like the fact that when you switch channels the effects stay the same. The clean channel is perfect for effects pedals and the lead channel SCREAMS. However, you can't really max out the volume without using the power squezer (which is awesome). What it can do though is generate awsome overdriven and saturated tube like tone. I have been playing guitar for 20 yrs and have owned many tube amps, and quite frankly this thing generates tones that sound warmer, rounder and generaly better than over half the tube amps I have owned.

After I bought this amp, i also bought the cube 30 x, and the cube 15x wich are equally as impresive but a little bit different in there tonal variety. I have also used the 20x to do smaller 'about 75 people'size gigs and this thing ripped right along with a drummer and bassist without the aid of being miced through a pa. You just have to give yourself a little space between you and your drummer otherwise even a 30 or 50 watt tube combo can sound like mush do to certain eq frequencys ie cymballs etc.will cancell each other out.all in all I can recomend the roland cube line to begginers and pro's alike. In short the cube line is an amazing value that eats its competition alive. Just for refference I play everything from blues type stevie ray vaughn to eric johnson/joe satriani type of guitar driven instrumental rock music.and this amp excells at this of guitar work. It's great for what it is. A practice amp. Plenty loud enough for small jams but I don't think I would gig with it. Ideal for apt dwellers, it sounds very nice at low volumes.

Enough effects to keep you occupied. I love the clean channel. Use it mostly with my Strat but plugged my acoustic/elec into the clean and played with the knobs and am able to get pretty good sound out of it. If it were stolen I would definately replace it. At 20W, this amp is still ALOT louder than others in its class. However, the power squeezer works great, so I use it indoors. I was also looking for an amp that could relay the beautiful tone of my Norman (offshoot of Godin) acoustic-electric guitar. I found that in the form of the clean channel on this amp. The various lead channels sound /m/ worthy (with the exception of the overdrive channel, which doesn't add much). This amp features a full equalizer which is useful (especially since this amp is rather base heavy).

The effects are interesting, though I probably won't use them outside of my home. All in all, this is a great amp for it's value (did I mention that it's practically indestructible?). I kind of wish there was a little more control over Delay, but the tone is great, which is what matters.

Comments about Roland Cube 20X Guitar Combo Amplifier: I've had the Cube 20x for about a year now, and I have loved it from the day I bought it. I play a Epiphone Les Paul Standard and 100, and both guitars sound good through it. The three band equalizer makes it easy to tone down the mids (it is a bit heavy on the lower and mid end.) The clean channel is very crisp, and even at high volume chords don't come out muddy.

Most of the six models on the lead channel are good. The acoustic model makes the sound brighter and twangier, while the metal and metal stack make it have searing mids with a great low end crunch. Tube overdrive and distortion are good, but overdrive doesn't give much to the low end.

The effects are decent (flanger and phaser kind of cheesy) and i love the delay. Reverb is good for chords and mid to high end, but on the low end, it sounds the same for every note.

All in all, you can get some good sounds out of the amp relatively easily, and it gets pretty. I can honestly say though I'd rather have a Fender tube amp like the Blues Jr., I'll be keeping this thing probably just to have for travel and practicing. It sounds really nice. Comments about Roland Cube 20X Guitar Combo Amplifier: I went over to my guitar student's house, because he wanted to show me his amp. I, being an audiophile in love with tubes, was skeptical. I brought a guitar, and I plugged in.Each lead preset was unique and useful, especially the acoustic. Obviously, it contains the same circuitry as BOSS's acoustic simulator pedal, and it sounds pretty legit from coming out of a 20 watt amp. The tube OD preset sounded kinda solid-state.

The dynamics responded like a solid-state amp would. The metal stack is what a heavy metal fan would be looking for. Drenched in gain, although not too much.the power squeezer is a great little gimmick, one i found useful since i was playing inside. It sounds like it can pack a solid punch, even when the power is being squeezed.

The footswitch jack is a good addition, although i couldn't try it out for myself.the master EQ is a very useful addition too, especially since i like lots of highs in my guitar tone.the effects are for play only, except the reverb. They sound good, but nothing i'd recommend for live or studio situations. They could be more useful if they had more parameters, but alas!the tuner could not work.

It simply didn't want to tell me how sharp or flat the note was. Maybe i was playing through a bad one.I wish this amp had another power amp and an ext speaker out jack so i could hook it up to my 4x12.
